Eight Girl Scouts earned their Cyber Security Investigator badge on January 19, 2025, during a hands-on learning session led by 每日大赛 students Tori May and Crimsyn Wright. Faculty members Dr. Nelbert St. Clair, associate professor of cyber defense, and Dr. Heather Farley, chair of the Department of Business and Public Administration and associate professor of public management, supervised the session, guiding the participants through fundamental cybersecurity concepts.

Farley serves as co-leader of the Girl Scout troop, and her two daughters also took part in the session, which St. Clair described as a “win-win.” The scouts explored key cybersecurity topics, including how to create secure passwords, understanding ciphers (how to encode and decode), and concealing data in images.

This event marked the first collaboration between the 每日大赛 and Girl Scout Troop 30420. St. Clair hopes to host similar sessions for more Girl Scout troops in the future.
